What is the Google AI Plus student offer outside the US?
Eligible college students outside the US get one year of Google AI Plus free, announced on August 19, 2026. The $240 in Google Gemini credits card shows who qualifies and how to claim.
The offer covers over 140 markets where Google AI Plus is available, and students in India are included. The US is not part of this version. US students get a different deal, covered below.
Redemption runs until December 31, 2026. Today is November 2, so less than two months of the window remain. Eligibility rules and the claim process change by market and by account, so they live on the perk card rather than in this article. AI Perks also tracks more student offers beyond this one, which the later sections list.

What does Google AI Plus include?
Google AI Plus gives students access to Gemini Omni, 2x higher usage limits in Gemini, 400 GB of storage and additional perks. Google describes the storage as equivalent to more than 100,000 photos.
The study features are the main draw for coursework. Students can upload personal class notes, up to 200 pages at a time, and turn them into quizzes, flashcards and study guides. Study notebooks go further: they use diagnostic quizzes to find strengths and knowledge gaps, then build bite-sized study plans around a learning goal.
| Feature | Google AI Plus |
|---|---|
| Model access | Gemini Omni |
| Gemini usage limits | 2x higher |
| Storage | 400 GB |
| Class notes to study material | Up to 200 pages at a time |
How does Plus compare with Pro and the free plan?
The 2x limit is measured against non-AI subscribers. Google does not publish figures for the free plan itself, so there is no exact number to compare against.
The clearer comparison is with Google AI Pro, which US students get free for a year instead of Plus. Pro is valued at $19.99/month. If you need more headroom during exams, Google says students can upgrade to Pro.
| Google AI Plus | Google AI Pro | |
|---|---|---|
| Usage limits in Gemini | 2x higher | 4x higher |
| Storage | 400 GB | 5 TB |
| Gemini Spark | No | Yes |
| Price after the free year | $4.99/month or local equivalent | $19.99/month |
Pro also adds Gemini inside Gmail and Google Docs and a Google Health Premium subscription. For most coursework, Plus covers notes, quizzes and storage. Pro matters if you want Gemini Spark or the larger limits.

What happens when the free year ends?
Unless cancelled earlier, Google AI Plus automatically charges $4.99/month or the local currency equivalent after the trial. You can cancel anytime. Keeping it for a full year means paying $4.99 for each of 12 months.
When the student offer ends, you convert to a regular paid Google AI Plus or Google AI Pro plan, except where consent is required under applicable laws. Google says you will be notified ahead of the change. Decide before that notice arrives whether Plus is worth keeping.
Google also announced a Google AI Pro and YouTube Premium bundle for students at up to 70% off. It can be valid for up to 4 years and may auto-renew at the standard monthly price once student status concludes. The same renewal logic applies: know the date the discount stops.

Which related student perks are in the catalogue?
Google is one of several student and education perks in the catalogue. These four are worth checking side by side, and each row opens its own card where you can sign up and see the details.

| Perplexity (education) | $84 | Get this perk |
